This piece is the result of a final project during a painting course at Tulane. I wanted to convey the feeling of a surfing wipeout. Being underwater, and for a second, not being sure where you are and which way the surface is. Space, like the ocean, is beautiful but terrifying, and an astronaut’s weightlessness represents how I feel after being thrown off my surfboard.
